The Story Behind Pappy Van Winkle
The legend begins with Julian “Pappy” Van Winkle Sr., one of the most influential figures in bourbon history.
Pappy started working in the whiskey business in the late 1800s with W.L. Weller & Sons, eventually helping pioneer the now-famous wheated bourbon recipe.
Instead of rye, wheat is used as the secondary grain, creating a bourbon that is:
